Every day it seems people decide to take on daring projects, utilizing the tools inside Minecraft to construct a variety worlds, structures, and contraptions. Many reflect on video game culture (see GTAV fully rendered in Minecraft). Our latest wonder of the Overworld? Mojang needs your help at MINECON 2016

Mojang is currently looking for Agents (aka volunteers) to help at MINECON 2016. If you're interested and you're over 18, you can fill out a MINECON Agent application HERE. Applications are due by July 10, and you can expect to hear back by July 18. All agents are only required to volunteer for one day (est. 10 hours). No ticket purchase is necessary, however, a $60.00 security deposit must be made should you be chosen–rest assured, this fee will be refunded after you have successfully volunteered at the event.

A release date for the Minecraft movie has been confirmed for 2019

Mojang just reported that the Minecraft movie is set to be released a little less than 2 years from now on May 24, 2019. The only details thus far are that the movie will be released in IMAX and 3D. Given the amount of time we'll be waiting we shouldn't expect updates anytime too soon, but we'll do our best to keep the community posted on anything and everything related to the film.

Every day it seems we find new ways to use Minecraft as a teaching utility. While the recent addition of Minecraft: Education Edition will integrate our favorite sandbox building game into the classroom, there are plenty of ways we can create an educational experience at home. One such way is with the help of Piper, a kit complete with everything you need to build your own computer. Upon completion, user's will go on an adventure like never before, using a combination of buzzers, switches, and LED lights to help navigate them on their quest and through various challenges. Free Battle mini-game out now for Minecraft console editions

Last month we reported on the coming product of a collaboration between Mojang and 4J Studios–the first official mini-game for Minecraft console editions. Well now the wait is over! Battle is now free to download. Again, this is only the first of a variety of mini-games that will be headed to console editions. We can expect future mini-games to be released as paid DLC priced at $2.99 ea. Check out the full report via Mojang for more details.

A group of Minecraft experts have taken the knowledge they've amassed of the Overworld and compiled an official survivor's guide–Minecraft: The Survivors' Book of Secrets.

Minecraft YouTubers to star at the Digital Kids Show in Manchester this October!

The Digital Kids Show is a new event kicking off in Manchester this October. The convention will feature a variety of activities, including Minecraft and retro gaming tournaments. Kids will also have the opportunity to test out new games, apps, and tech related toys. Meanwhile, parents will be given the chance to learn how to keep their kids safe online. The Manchester Evening News shared various details on the event in this article, announcing the roster of Minecraft YouTube celebrities who will be attending the event to speak on how computing is influential to contemporary life. Attendees can look forward to seeing Amy Lee, AshDubh, LDShadowLady, SmallishBeans, and Tomohawk.
